Hey guy. This is going to be a weird question.
I guess I’m looking for… I don’t know, a ‘field report’ on making/maintaing friendships? I’m trying to focus on trying to develop social circles and make friends – I think that I need some practice with more basic calibration/banter, and develop my confidence in a few non-sexual relationships (if only so that I have a support network) before I’m going to make much meaningful progress on my pick-up - I find I've been becoming far too invested in far too easily, and I think its because my the girls I'm meeting are sometimes my sole social/emotional outlets.
Been working a lot on being a conversationalist, but I’m still very much a novice.
I’m alright with actually meeting new people – I can approach new people if I have a fairly easy situational opener to use, and its pretty easy to get introductions. Getting them to talk about themselves isn’t too hard (though still inconsistent, and still more dependent on their mood at the given moment than my ability to lead the conversation).
But going beyond that is difficult. I get the reputation of a moderately cool, decent person (or at least; not a creep/weirdo) pretty easily, but I find it very difficult to progress extremely loose/superficial social ties into meaningful friendships with people I actually like – I’m never quite sure what I can offer to these people, and I’m not really sure how to be a ‘good’ friend with the few people who do seem to put up with my company.
So; what do you guys actually do with your friends? What do your friendships look like?
