Gents,
This is an interesting thing for me which happened the other day. Now, I wasn't having an actual 'date' as such, it was more a catch up with an attractive friend who I hadn't seen for a year as I'd been away. I've tried to get with her before, but that was before the days of GC so my efforts, in retrospect, were cringey and god-awful.
So we met up in town then went to a cafe and grabbed some coffee (bill was split). During the time we chatted I learnt that she had recently broken up with her boyf of two years. (The rest of the chat was about travel and living abroad, nothing sexual).
About an hour into us chatting, I started to think a bit more in terms of maybe trying something, but I had a bit of hesitation as I had tried a few years back and it had come to no avail.
But then she said she got a text from a friend who was in the area and had some time to kill before she started work. She proceeded to invite her to join us as she was a bit younger than us and had gone to the same school as us both, so she thought I knew her. Her friend used to be her neighbour, so they are really good friends. Also, in hindsight, I hadn't said anything either way, I probably could have said "oh, let's just keep it us two for now", but I didn't want to seem rude.
About 15 minutes later she joined us (turns out I didn't know her, and she wasn't attractive) and we all chatted for another hour or so. I then had to leave as I had shit to do and they said they would probably stay there for another hour or so (which I couldn't do).
Now normally I wouldn't worry about this, but the girl who I'd started having coffee with started playing with hair A LOT during our chat, probably around the first hour. I'm not talking about fiddling now and then, I mean properly stroking, moving it around and she kept changing position in her chair a lot and her eye contact was strong with a strong smile. At the time I picked only a bit of this up and started thinking about it, but then the friend texted. (The more I think about this now the more obvious it was).
Do you think she agreed to the friend coming because I didn't pick these up and do something about it?
So, my questions are:
What would you have done, in terms of when the friend had arrived? Or what would you have said to make sure she didn't come?
Anything anyone would have done if this had been a proper date instead of a friendly catch-up?
Anyone had this happen on a date before?
Cheers
