So I've been peacocking a bit lately, been getting around with a massive gold and silver cowboy belt buckle, along with shiny purple nail polish and other such innovations, well I was chatting with the owner of the Japanese school lately and she pointed out some of these things, I told her I'm trying to do more interesting things (black mark no. 1, I need to play off the peacocking like it's no big deal), she then said something like "you're not gay?" ... my response was "no not when I last checked, although it is good to leave people wondering a bit" ... (black mark no. 2, shouldn't have been so honest)... what could I have said to refuse compliance on the question but let her know that I dig the ladies?
I kicked myself here because I've been so intent on gaming the early-20s JP teachers. which has turned out to be a waste of time (most have boyfriends etc) that I completely forgot about the owner who is more my age and quite successful and decently attractive. I belatedly checked her for a ring and didn't see one. An advantage of shooting for the owner is she couldn't get in trouble for chatting up the clientele
I am definitely thinking I will have to ask her out on a date and see what happens. This could be really great. I'll call in later with a card for the regular receptionist who is quite seriously ill and take it from there (owner is doing reception for the time being which is useful).
One problem is I've still been using polite speech on the owner and referring to her as "teacher" (although I'm not sure if she actually does teach there, it's a title of respect)... but she's seen me flirting shamelessly with the other girls, I've tried not to use too much rough and dominant masculine speech in her presence (in case the girls get in trouble for allowing themselves to be disrespected) but she has probably heard it a little. Hopefully it gives some preselection. I think I had better continue the polite speech with owner until something gives, I've been experimenting with "boku" as an alternative to "watashi" when I'm speaking to someone that I want to show respect to, it seems to go over okay.
