Why am I getting approached by girls so much less now that I'm confident?

Back in high school, I was a complete nerd with few friends and basically no social life. And I was constantly approached by girls. I don't know if it's that I gave off a smart vibe or that I did sports so I was always in good shape, but I'd pass by girls in the hallway and they'd say hey, they'd call me over during lunch, they'd sit next to me at the beginning of the year when we were picking seats, and I never had any idea what I was doing so it didn't ever turn into anything.

When I came to college, I decided to change my life, became confident, made friends, started approaching girls, grew a bit of a social life and... nothing. I don't get those cute smiles anymore in the hallway, those "heys" from girls I barely know, I get into conversations with girls, and they seem plenty happy to follow my lead on the rare occasion I do it right, but I basically never get approached anymore, and I don't get it. I have a baby face with (well-groomed) facial hair, so I'm hardly intimidating. I'm also still in great shape, but I laugh very easily and I definitely don't put off a super-masculine Daniel Craig as James Bond vibe. It's not like I'm scary, I just don't shake when I get into conversations anymore. Maybe I'm being too try-hard now?
