As I have stated before, I had a lot more success after I graduated college as opposed to in college where I didn't have that much luck. Looking back at it I realized that even though I could have done some things better, the hookup culture associated with college is really all hype and some articles have proven this (one at the end of this thread).
What really bothers me now even though I am out of college is that so many young men in high school will be sold this lie that getting laid will never be easier than it is in college. What bothers me EVEN MORE is that these same guys will be told about the "horrors" of the real world and how bad it is after college ends, how you will never enjoy so many one night stands, etc.
You can say I am angry when I write this, not about how college went down for me but how me and so many young men out there are told there are no hookups and one night stands after college and how they are so much less "frequent". I don't want men in college to feel this way.
After months of reading articles that talk about the college hookup culture and years of experiencing disappointment in college, here are some things I have found to be true.
Getting average looking girls in college is easier than the real world BUT getting above average, cute, and hot girls in college is harder than the real world:
I noticed that after I graduated college, the quality of women I had went up compared to the ones I was getting in college even though my college had a lot of hot girls. This was due to the Greek Scene being huge at my university and a lot of the hot girls being in sororities. I found that people in college were a lot more cliquish than people I knew in the real world. Most hot girls in college were not approachable, day game didn't work, and as Franco said in a past thread they led guys on only to reject them. These girls wanted guys that had status or "social proof", in most cases this meant Frat boys or athletes. Guys who threw parties at their house and were very involved on campus also had some luck but your average joe was not in that category and just simply approaching girls didn't do the trick.
At this point in life, most girls are in their prime while most guys are hitting their prime:
Posts about SMV (Sexual Market Value) have been done before which talked about how girls have more power in their teens and early 20s because they are at their peak while men are still approaching their peak and don't hit it until their late 20s. I saw this dynamic play out so much in college that the whole chart made sense to me. You had a lot of hot girls that were having active sex lives or at least had no issues finding love but the guys they were going after were in a small category. I found that my university, despite being a well known party school that was huge, had a lot of guys who were struggling with getting laid and over the years I found this to be true about most colleges as well.
Pre-selection, Social Hierarchy, and High school 2.0:
For most universities outside of community college type ones, college is in many ways high school 2.0 and Greek Life makes sure of that in some of the big schools. College girls will rarely hook up with non-students and have already decided who they want to be with. Women in real life go to bars to meet men and be approached, girls in college have decided what men they want to sleep with before they get to the bar. A book called Conquer Your Campus (great read) touched on this.
Which means how much game you have and what you have to offer don't matter that much, girls are much more shallow:
I found that even though I was more outgoing in college and even better looking than I am now, I didn't have much luck with girls that were cute or hot. I sometimes tried everything but came up short. One of my friends who actually modeled had his struggles in college because he was not a part of the scene. The most important thing is being a part of the scene and playing the social hierarchy game.
Getting hot girls in college is exclusively about status from my experience:
I would say most of the hot girls at my university that were in sororities were closed off to any guy not in a fraternity. It is like you weren't on their radar unless you were an athlete, these girls only went for frat stars. Despite how cool and good looking you were, the fact that you were not in a fraternity ended all of your chances. For most colleges I just found that sorority girls led on guys that were not in fraternities but not even the best game in the world could get them to hook up with you unless you were an athlete.
