I fail to see a logical connection between them and your thesis that dick tattoos would help reduce HIV infections. These banal facts do not support your argument pro dick tattoos.

I think it's pretty straight forward no? People will be like "Hey, you didn't tell me you had AIDS!" Or do you think any sane person would engage in sex with someone infected on purpose? A kantian moral argument would work better here not an argument based on effectiveness. It's clear that it would reduce transmission rates.

His premises I was talking about in the statement of mine you quote:

1:most people who get stds get them in relationships,(in beds)not in dark alleyways.
2:most people don't know their status..and 40 percent of infected people don't know they are infected.
3:this measure will drastically reduce the number of infected people, sure some people will still infect others in alleyways, but as with any sti....the total number of infected people in a population is a big factor on how easy it is to become infected.
in other words...in a region where one out of ten people have aids, catching aids is obviously easier than catching it in a region where only one out of a hundred have it.

These premises support people getting tested more, not making people get tattoos on their genitals. Obviously on the rare occasion that someone is lying to you about having HIV who you are about to have sex with, a tattoo would reveal their lie. But I doubt someone who is willing to go that far into depravity would have a problem covering up the tattoo with makeup or with any dozen of other methods of concealment. So the tattoo would really only be "effective" on the people who wouldn't lie to potential partners about having a deadly infectious disease in the first place.

Re: wouldnt it make sense to make AIDS testing mandatory and tatoo people infect

I had a very harrowing ordeal recently which I've thought about posting a thread on but haven't yet. This seems like the time to share.

I am currently seeing a girl who has disclosed to me that she is HSV positive. I've not had any run-ins with STDs before, so I decided to do some homework before making a decision on whether it is safe to sleep with this girl. It turns out that the majority of the population actually has HSV-1 or HSV-2 already, although most of them never show symptoms. So I decided I should have a blood test done for HSV, and while I was in the clinic I might as well get the full gamet done just to be safe.

One of the things they did was prick my finger and run a rapid reaction test for HIV. The test came back positive.

If you've never been sitting in a room and had your entire world fall out from under you I dont know that I can accurately describe the feeling. My involvement in the GC community? Done. The date I had lined up for next Week? Gone. The girls I'm seeing right now? I can't imagine they'd stick around. I know I wouldnt. Not to mention the fact that I'll be dead by 50 (I learned later after research that with the proper drug treatment this is no longer true)

Legally in my state they have to conduct additional testing before they can officially diagnose you, because there are also laws making it illegal to have sex with someone without telling them you are HIV positive. The health department also puts your name in a database and will track you down as well as all of your past partners to tell them that you have HIV meaning that you have no privacy in the matter whatsoever.

Blood was sent into a lab for additional tests and I spent several days waiting on results. I dont rattle easily, and I've never been so scared of something in my life. I KNEW there was no way this could be true, I have none of the risk factors (gay sex, needles, blood transfusions, lots of unprotected sex). But I did my homework and the science behind these tests is supposed to be very sound, with a 98-99% accuracy on positive results depending on the study you look at.

A few days ago I went in to learn my results and the followup test came back negative.

You ask why we shouldn't force people to undergo mandatory tests and brand them as pariahs if they come back positive? Because false positives are a real thing with HIV. I would know, I was one of them.
