As I have shared with many guys on here, I had a terrible college experience when it came to getting girls. I knew game, was confident, and would say I was at least average if not well above average looking. Despite all that, I was not able to get most of the attractive girls on campus let alone the image conscious sorority girls (and I am not a minority either).
It is one of those things that sticks with you for a long time. All that time I felt like everyone was hooking up in college and having sex but me and a very small number of people out there, it severely fucked me up. After hearing about the tragedy in Isla Vista I looked into it and then I saw it, the guy in the video had that exact same view of life. Lets not blame the fictional hookup culture or the college hype for this guy's insanity, there were clearly other factors at play here, but one would be quite naive to believe that those two belief systems didn't a big role on this guy's outlook on life.
The hookup culture is a myth.

The low self-esteem comes from media popularizing the hookup culture and American society easily believing it to be fact which creates a large number of sexually frustrated young men with low self-esteem.
I didn't make this thread because I wanted everyone to feel discouraged about college but as I have said in the past, it isn't necessarily that easy to get laid in college for the average joe because at this point in time a lot of girls (particularly the hot ones) care more about status than they do in high school and will at any other point in their lives. Most men have not yet hit their sexual peak at this point in time while girls are almost at their peak or very close to approaching it.
Over the years I have found that the fact the hookup culture is not attacked and everyone makes it seem like it is easy to get laid in college by above average looking girls (they're mostly making shit up to protect their fragile egos) ends up hurting a lot of young guys out there who are stupid enough to go to college to get an education. I have fallen victim to the hookup culture, it hurt my self-esteem and caused me to have a lot of angry nights where I could not even sleep. Now with the overwhelming evidence that most guys in college do not get laid (regularly and sometimes even at all) and just doing a lot of research on this myself I just hope that the idea the college hookup culture is a myth goes mainstream.
Obviously you are going to have athletes who are at their peaks and frat boys that come from old money families and can graduate college with an unemployable major yet still get a job but those guys are outliers who are less than 10% of the college population. Even MOST guys who are in a fraternity do not get laid regularly if at all but they will lie their asses off about it. The truth is that this college hookup culture thing has gone too far. Movie after movie it has been shoved down the throats of the younger generation as being true when realistically speaking it is one of the biggest myths out there.

The hookup culture is a myth.
We’ve known for a while now that the media hype surrounding hookup culture is overblown: Less than 15% of college students “hook up” more than twice per year—and that definition of “hook up” ranges from kissing to intercourse.
