These were my first day game sets after I quit a month ago because of unresponsive numbers loll. At the end of the day, the goal is absolute abundance and that's not possible without putting the work in so I decided to jump back in.
After work, I walked around a famous park trying to see if I could start any interaction but to my surprise, I froze last second everytime I tried. And one thing I've learned daygaming in NYC is that girls are usually in a rush somewhere so except you want to jog after her (which I prefer not to do - it can work however), you have to open right away especially if you're walking towards each other. I walked for about 30 minutes with zero approaches and decided to go back to my neighborhood to continue the journey. In the mean time, I reduced my criteria for success which was initially: talk to a girl, flirt, set up a date and get her number to: wave to a girl you're interested in and open ("heeyyy, excuuuse me" - stolen from @James D).
However, when i got to my neighborhood, I ended up walking around for about 1 hour with 0 approaches (again not because there were no girls but because of approach anxiety - btw I rarely get approach anxiety these days during night game because it's easier to be smoother on the open in night game and because of experience).
First girl
At this point, I said fuck it and went to a nearby liquor store to get some alcoholic beverages for my place. On my way out, I reduced my criteria of success even further to "just wave" or "say hey" to a girl - i just wanted to do something. As soon as I got out, I saw this gorgeous Asian girl walking towards me and I lift my hand to wave and say "heyyy".
Her(taking out her airpods): "I'm sorry, i'm in a rush somewhere"
Me (just happy that i made an approach): "No worries, have a good day!"
Second girl
I was super pumped! After walking around for about 1hr 30 minutes, I finally made an approach. This built up my momentum and I approach one of the next girls I see. She's walking towards me and while we're still a reasonable distance apart, I wave like I saw an old friend and smiled. She takes out her airpods:
Her: looks at me (she is still walking by me while I've stopped walking)
Me (much more fidgety than usual): Heeyy, I was just walking home when I saw you and just had to tell you that you look amazing
Her: Thank you! (she becomes a bit more open and stops walking)
Me: what's your name?
Her: (she tells me and I told her mine as well.)
Me, with a curious look: what's your ethnicity btw? (she looked indian but not really)
Her, kinda excited: Take a guess!
Me: Indian? (with a chuckle)
Her: No, Bengali (with a smile)
Me: Ah, I see. Can you guess mine?
Her: Ghanian? (very close but not exactly)
She guesses it on her third try but she was close every time which surprised me. She did keep looking the way she was walking which made me think she was in a rush somewhere. Surely after, she said:
Her: I'm in a rush somewhere!
Me: No worries, we'll grab a drink sometime. Let me get your number?
Her: Instagram?
Me: I don't use instagram
Her: Hmmm I found out the last person who said that lied to me
Me: I really don't have it loll (I give my phone and she puts her number in)
We then part ways. The whole interaction lasted like 3 minutes tops so I highly doubt she'll respond to my texts, which is fine, because right now, I'm just trying to re-learn daygame and get good at it. The interaction was pretty fast-paced which I didn't like. That's been my issue doing street approaches in new york city - everyone is in a rush somewhere so interactions are usually short-lived.
Third girl
I continue walking my way and I see another hot girl (god bless america). I've noticed that i struggle with a bit of inertia when I see a girl in daygame - it takes my brain a couple of seconds to realize that I'm supposed to do something when I see a hot girl and not just stare her down. I've had girls give me long eye contact while walking towards each other on the street but it only hits after she has walked past that I was supposed to approach her. Any tips for this?
Anyway I see this girl and I immediately raise my hand for a wave. As soon as my hand is up, the smile follows and the words follow as well.
She sees me and takes out her airpods (yes, all these girls are unfortunately wearing headphones)
Her: looks at me
Me: Heyy, I was just walking this way when I saw you. I thought you were really cute and had to say something
Her (opens up a bit): Thank you! (with a smile)
Me: What's your name?
<we exchange names>
(At this point, my brain blanks out because I'm still not used to thinking on my feet which is essential for day game)
Me: So where are you from?
Her: New Jersey
Me: (scoffs) omg
Her: gives me a wtf face reaction
Me: It's just everyone i meet here is from jersey
Her: Well it's pretty close
Me: Fair fair, what do you do? (at this point, I can tell I'm getting into interview mode. I'm also concentrating more on what to say instead of how i was saying it which is bad for fun convos in general. Again, I just blanked)
Her: I do marketing (mentions a bit more extra detail I don't remember)
Me: oh, so very corporate
Her, smiling: Yes, very corporate
Me, smiling: Don't worry, same over here. I do <my job> (again retarded because the conversation is going nowhere)
Her: Oh nice
There's a bit of awkward silence in between these lines and she goes:
Her: I gotta get back on the phone with my dad, he was just calling.
Me: Oh yeah cool, how about we grab a drink sometime?
Her: Yeahh
Me: Let me get your number (brings out my phone so she can put her number)
Me: I also gotta call my dad. He lives in another country and has been asking me to send photos at my job loll
Her: aww thats cute
Me: yeahh, how long you been living here? (again, interview mode)
Her: about 2, 3 years now
Me: oh sick, i just moved here
Her: oh dope (she finishes putting her number in) good chat! (seems very platonic to me)
Me: yeah, i'll text you
Interaction probably lasted about 4 minutes.
Again I was proud for making the approach but I don't think for a second that they will go anywhere loll. I was in my head during the conversations and butchered them.
Any tips for where I could improve? I'm still working on getting comfortable with the shoot-on-sight nature of day game. At night game, I'm usually mentally prepared and do warmups to get me in state but day game doesn't really allow you to settle in.
