Do the rules in 'How to ask a girl out and always get a yes apply in any situation. I see a lot of this advice as only be applicable to cold approach. I wanted to know if this article can be used more universally.

I've avoided dating in the work place, but am leaving my post at the end of the month to go to a different organisation. There are a couple of girls who I have known for the year I have been here who I'm interested in, but avoided going out with because I worked with them and wanted to avoid the drama. I've dated other girls in between but nothing that has been long term. I think the girls are interested in me, and I regularly go out drinking with them as part of a wider group.
Same applies if you meet a girl who has a boyfriend. You know her reasonably well, but its not like you're going in cold.
I just wondered if the principles are the same. Do I got direct? or try and keep it casual and not make my intention clear?
