Hey Big Daddy,
Keep up the good work on weight loss!
I have my own history of weight issues... Maybe not as acute as yours but still. In 2011 I dropped my weight from 205 lbs to 170, in less than 3 months, just changing the way I eat. I did the Dukan diet back then and it was very efficient and motivating. Lost maybe 20 lbs in the first month. It was probably the most significant work I did on myself, and it changed the way people (and girls!) looked at me.
Recently I stopped paying attention to my diet and I reached 187 lbs again. No way I would let myself go back to where I was. I found the article by Eric Reeves on GC (Weight Loss For Men: 23 Tips...) very inspiring. Based on this, I did two things 1. skip breakfast, and 2. Zero Carb ketogenic diet (less than 30 grams of carbs a day). Scrap all the rice, pasta, bread, grains, sweets, all the junk food. It required me to carefully plan my meals, cook in the morning and bring my food at work, to keep total control over the diet. No beer, no hard alcohols, just a little wine in the evening. I achieved about 1.85 lbs weight loss a week, and restored my normal weight in two months. This diet was actually very easy to do, much easier than Dukan diet.
Again, this is without exercising, just changing the way I eat.
Anyway keep the motivation man, the result is very rewarding.
Cheers,
Seppuku
