The summer is drawing to a close and I’m focusing on rebounding from a breakup. I live with my parents and take care of my grandparents, so I went for a walk to CVS to pick something up — also planning to approach any girls I saw.
First, I noticed a hot girl dressed in all black who looked like she might’ve just finished a shift as a waitress. I made eye contact with her while she was crossing the street, but it felt too intense and she went the other way.
Later, I saw two college-looking blondes sitting on a bench. One of them actually turned to look at me from across the distance.
I decided to approach:
Me: “Hey, sorry. Could I make a painting of you guys? I’m an artist.”
(The girls looked at each other for a long pause.)
Blonde 1: “Yes.”
Me: “Well, I’m not free right now, can I get your number?”
Blonde 2: “We’re actually leaving soon, sorry!”
Me: “Okay.”
In the moment, I interpreted it as an awkward rejection, but they may have literally been leaving for college soon. I definitely showed nervousness during the approach.
