Hey everyone

I have always struggled with this, but as I have gotten older—and especially with spending more time indoors (when I am not out in the field, but even then)—it has gotten worse. The lack of sleep from staying up late has not helped either. I look tired, and the dark circles under my eyes have become more pronounced.

I have tried a few remedies, but the results have been pretty underwhelming. I have been using some creams to cover it up, but I’d really like to find something that addresses the root cause.

Does anyone have any recommendations—creams, remedies, or other tips and tricks—that have actually worked for you?

Thanks in advance!

Best,
Teevster

My eyes suck, and yes as you get older gets worst...

my recommendations after dealing with my bug eyes for years, at least i got rid of the dark circles, for me number 1 is caffeine:

Garnier Clearly Brighter Anti-Puff Eye Roller, Dark Circles Under Eye Treatment with Caffeine and Vitamin C, 0.5 Fl Oz (15mL), 1 Count (Packaging May Vary)

  • Under Eye Cream Roller: This easy apply gel texture eye cream for dark circles and puffiness comes in its own roller, which reduces under eye puffiness and has a cooling caffeine, mint and Vitamin C infused gel formula that brightens skin in just one use
  • Brightening Vitamin C: Vitamin C makes our best under eye dark circle remover a skin care shelf must have; Our eye roller for puffy eyes has a cooling caffeine infused gel refreshes and reduces puffiness, so you can look more radiant and rested

^ that is the eye roller

For cream after trying a million this one works for me:
CeraVe Eye Repair Cream, Under Eye Cream For Puffiness And Bags Under Eyes, Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide + Marine Botanical Complex, Oil Free & Opthalmologist Tested

And for tricks dahhhh make up (no homo), now for make up under the eyes (it is called councealer) you need a girl/or tranny or go to one of those make up mall counters to find the right color for you, i did it with a girl, cause you need to find the exact color that matches your EXACT skin color or tone, it has blend it so nobody can tell..... (trust me i need to do fraud game, i become an expert), you put 3 dots (a girl or youtube can show you how to do it), and then you take a make up sponge to blende it in........

for prevention a good sunscreen is SVR, made in France. it may be easier to find in Europe... I think the ingredients haven't been reviewed by the FDA so it's not sold in the US. good resource is reddit skincareaddiction. all brands noted in the thread so far are well regarded there (garnier depends on product). fun fact cosrx is known for their snail mucin...

Dark circles under your eyes can be caused by a few things. For example it can be caused by

1) Hyperpigmentation

2) Loss of bone structure around your eyes that causes more shadowing and a darker look

3) Loss of collagen and/or fat around your eyes. Which can once a again cause shadowing

4) Dehydration. Not getting enough water or your skin is not holding hydration as well

5) Lack of sleep and other lifestyle factors

6) Genetics, allergies ETC

Because each cause requires a different solution (and creams won’t work for all of them), it’s hard for anyone online to give you an effective one-size-fits-all fix.

That’s why I recommend seeing a dermatologist if you can. They’ll help you skip the trial-and-error phase and save you money on products that don’t address the root cause.

If going to an office feels to inconvenient you can get one online like Nurx or Dermatica

Hope that points you in the right direction

I have heard caffeine and vitamin C might be the right course for an eye roller. It is noted. I will do some more research.

I was thinking about this - I think I will just get help from my mother, she knows make-up. But I would rather adress the root cause.

Thanks again,

Yeah I have heard about this reddit group. It is like the SS of skincare. Maybe I should ask my question there.

I am currently in a country with little sun. Not sure sunscreen is necessary? I am also rarely out duing the day.

Genetics is likely because it runs in the familly.

All causes are plausible, although some less likely - such as 1 and 2 and to some extent 4. But I think this is a good call. I am seeing the GP for other stuff in like a month, so I can ask him, and see if he can refer me to a dermatologist.

I believe that this is the right course of action. In the meantime, I could try some of the remeies suggested so far.

Thanks.

Maybe not then. But I have seen it mentioned there that sunscreen does help prevent dark circles, so it may be good for the future.

Many users there consider it a general skin care fundamental - daily necessity, with the hardcore optimizers wearing it throughout winter, and even when indoors with sunlight exposure through windows.

Hydration's also key.

In general it is helpful to google search with site:https://... on the one subreddit since there are tons of users and lots of past field testing in general (not sure about dark circle products and issues, but probably).

As for root cause, other than genetics, it sounds like sleep may be the crux of it.

He knows it’s probably from staying up at night. That causes the dark circles. The dermatologist will tell him the same thing. I already know he’s going to continue staying up at night so my suggestion was from someone who also stays up at night, and uses a product to remedy that anyway

Well yes, great products were recommended and will help. He mentioned wanting to address the root cause a couple times, and if staying up late will continue, then adding extra hours before going out would be the other way.

People that stay up all night sleep during day what you are saying makes no sense... Unless they wake up early... unlikely

Hate to admit, but pretty much what I had in mind. Lack of sleep and staying up late is in my nature. This is probably the part of me that is unlikely to change in the near future. It is not just about game, I just genuinely like the night. There is a certain peace and joy to it.

So is you recommandation aligning with this problematic - dark circle caused by lack of sleep?

I use sunscreen when I go out - but I do not go out much during the day - I am such a vampire. So unlikely "sun" is the root cause.

Lack of sleep and staying up late is a likely cause.

Hydration is key although I drink a lot of liquids during the day.

Well, the fact is, It is not like my sleep schedule is good, nor am I always getting enough of sleep. This is a fact.

Most nightgamers cannot brag about having good sleep schedules, and most (but not all) are to some extent sleep deprived - this is for super active nightowls though. There may be some exception, but remember I have lived in places where the field closed late - like early morning or afternoon. It probably took a toll on my body (I am kind of happy I am not in living in such a place - I am kind of ok with field closing at 3 am - mostly for health and lifestyle reasons).

I stay up all night (I leave work at 10pm and then meet one of my fuckbuddies) and then wake up early for work the next day

I use black seed oil which keeps my skin clear. Did a quick Google search and it says It helps reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness
