The Session

  • Date: 9/23/23
  • Time: 8 PM to 2 AM (6 hours)
  • Session: Night game(ish)
  • Wings: K
  • What type of session is it: Learning night
  • Goal: 5 approaches (exceeded the goal)
  • Summary of the session: Went out to day game but there wasn't much volume so we ended up night gaming. Bounced from one area to the other (last two approaches were in the second area) where my wing knew a few people that were at a bar. Dressed in a hawaiian shirt and black jeans.
  • Pros:
    • Exceeded the goal
  • Cons:
    • Felt like a slow pace for the night
    • Really only did 1 approach per hour
  • Takeaways:
    • Be an approach machine whether your wing is with you or not.
    • Be direct or at least establish man-to-woman premise quickly
    • Killer instinct. Burn it to the ground

Approaches

  1. Semi-direct Approach
    • Opener: Hey I like your tattoo. Where did you get it?
    • Summary: One set sitting by herself (day game) Had a bit of a convo about tattoos but saw she had a wedding ring so I ejected.
    • Techniques (e.g. push pull, hypo stories, cold read, other attraction building techniques): N/A
    • Close: N/A
    • Pros:
      • Was a good warm-up
    • Cons:
      • Indirect and very not man-to-woman
    • Takeaways:
      • Should have gone direct
      • Should have pushed the conversation past just the tattoo stuff, even though she was married, it would have been good practice
  2. Indirect Approach
    • Opener: I have an extremely important question to ask you. Did you two match shoes on purpose?
    • Summary: Two set sitting outside (day game). They said their shoes weren't matching. I said the shoes were white so close enough. I then re-asked the matching question bc they didn't answer. One of them said yes and the other said no. I asked if they even knew each other as they're so out of sync. K came in and I introduced him but he left. Get-to-know you chat and it seemed like they were underage so I ejected.
    • Techniques (e.g. push pull, hypo stories, cold read, teasing, other attraction building techniques):
      • Teasing on the fact that they don't know each other
    • Close: N/A
    • Pros:
      • Teased well and joked
      • Could have flirted more
    • Cons:
      • Didn't pick a target
    • Takeaways:
      • Ask how old the girls are
      • In a two-set you need to be clear who the target is especially without a wingman
  3. Direct Approach
    • Opener: Hey I thought you were cute and wanted to meet you.
    • Summary: Two-set of girls sitting at a table at the bar. She asked if I had a friend and introduced K to her friend. Get-to-know-you chat but she was hooked and asking me questions. I was physical (touching her knee when laughing, etc).
    • Techniques (e.g. push pull, hypo stories, cold read, other attraction building techniques):
      • Physicality
      • Cold read: You seem like you like to travel (they moved from Houston to Austin on a whim)
    • Close: What are you up to later tonight? Let me get your number and I'll text you what we're doing
    • Pros:
      • Went direct. Premise was established quickly
      • Cold read was good. She asked how I knew.
    • Cons:
      • Could have added more emotional spikes into the convo
    • Takeaways:
      • Continue being direct
      • When with a wingman, establish 1-on-1 convo very quickly so you're not have a group convo
  4. Semi-direct approach
    • Opener: Hey I like your glasses they make you look like Harry Potter
    • Summary: One set by the bar. Talked a bit about how I just moved and she seems cool, etc. She said she's lesbian and had to get back to her gf. I said if I see her later she has to be my wingman.
    • Techniques (e.g. push pull, hypo stories, cold read, other attraction building techniques)
      • A little bit of a neg on the open
    • Close: N/A
    • Pros:
      • Negged her with the Harry potter line
      • Was still clear that I was interested in her
    • Cons:
      • N/A
    • Takeaways:
      • Keep momentum up and if you use the wingman line, make sure you actually follow up on that
  5. Semi-direct approach
    • Opener: Hey I like your dress, where did you get it?
    • Summary: Two set by the bar. Get-to-know-you convo. Their friend came up and said "your engagement ring is so cute" to my target. Ejected quickly after.
    • Techniques (e.g. push pull, hypo stories, cold read, other attraction building techniques)
      • N/A
    • Close: N/A
    • Pros:
      • N/A
    • Cons:
      • N/A
    • Takeaways:
      • Could have pushed it just for practice but look out for the ring
  6. Indirect
    • Opener: You look bored, you gotta come dance
    • Summary: 3-set in the corner of bar where everyone was dancing (emo night). She said she wasn't bored but I could've pushed. Made her pinky promise she would join me for a dance later.
    • Techniques (e.g. push pull, hypo stories, cold read, other attraction building techniques)
      • N/A
    • Close: N/A
    • Pros:
      • Physicality with pinky promise
      • Her friends didn't really get involved
    • Cons:
      • Indirect. Should've gone direct.
    • Takeaways:
      • Go direct as many times as you can
      • Don't focus on dancing if you're not going for an all-or-nothing (e.g. dance or eject)
  7. (Chilean girl)
    • Opener: Oh you two are from Chile
    • Summary: Social circle game-ish. Two set of Chilean Girls. K kinda knew them but they were friends of his friends. Talked with both of them. Didn't really pick a target. Wasn't man-to-woman.
    • Techniques (e.g. push pull, hypo stories, cold read, other attraction building techniques)
      • Cold read: You seem like you travel
    • Close: You should come out to 6th st. She said no so I number closed.
    • Pros:
      • Closed.
      • Kept the group engaged (two set)
    • Cons:
      • Was not man-to-woman. But might not have been socially calibrated to be man-to-woman
    • Takeaways:
      • Flirt more
