First time ever making a journal, but thought it could be fun. This first post will be a little bit of backstory for anyone interested, the second post will be the actual journaling part.
For anyone following my story you'll know that I've had a rough go of it lately. I worked really hard honing my online dating abilities and knowledge and got pretty damn good at it. Learning online dating was where I started and what eventually lead to a love of a photography.
Well, now I'm unable to do online game. At least for now while I'm stuck in Missouri (technically could, legally, but just don't wanna risk it. Might get back into it later on down the road when/if I get back to TN).
I've dabbled in day game and still consider myself a little bit of a beginner at it, but where I started to see some good time results was during events, like dancing events. Hell, when I changed my walk I set up 3 different dates in a single event! Then I continued on to set up a few more dates after that from a different dancing event.
Well, suffice to say that I can't do that here either. The only places to dance are filled with old folk. Bless their hearts, gained a lot of mom's from dancing and a lot of fun is had, but only a single woman came from dancing here in a few years (though when I was newer at both game and dancing there were other opportunities that I failed to capitalize on).
Anywhoo, now I'm doing straight up cold approach. Found out on Monday that I'm probably stuck here in this dreary college town of mine for over another month. This college town doesn't have much going on during the summer because the population gets cut down by too damn much. When colleges start picking up again there will be more to do, but for now, without online game or events to go to, I'm doing old fashioned, hard-nosed cold approach. And there's not a lot of women to do it on.
I don't know why, but until about an hour ago I forgot a very important lesson: fun. It's the thing that I thrive on, it's my element and yet, I forgot all about it. This past week hasn't been fun at all.
With events and to a lesser extent, hired guns, they're kinda forced into the hook point so I can just dive into conversation and it's always worked for me. I have some conversational hacks that I use to help me get started in the beginning and it's always fun, and it always leads somewhere new because it's not a routine but more of a way to jump past small talk.
But I haven't used a single one of them.
In cold approach I've been trying to take the same indirect approach into day game (but without the fun). It's failing very hard. And now I remember why I always preferred something more direct; it's more fun for me. It also short circuits the conversation straight into the hook point or into no where at all.
I've put in quite a bit of time in this crappy town and there are a few approachable women here and there. Only seen a few stunners (and it's always across the damn room where I can't get to them in time! Either they run out the shopping door or they pull a Houdini and I have no idea where they go lol). The ones that are approachable I've been failing pretty hard with. It feels awkward for me and without a doubt the women feel it too.
It's because it's not been fun for me, I've not been making it fun. It's what I thrive on. I'm a hedonist that's been trying to do something without making it fun! #Fail
Think I'll go back to my more fun, and more direct style and see what happens. Especially now that I can bring back my conversational hacks that I came up with from doing Lyft I should do a lot better than when I first, first tried day game. Excluding, of course, the moments where I can sincerely do something fun with an indirect/situational approach.
Fun story: my first approach after finding out I'll be here a while I met a stripper lol. In the grocery store of all places! Sadly she wanted me to come into the club and pay for lap dances... I didn't have the heart to tell her that I'm on probation and can't go, but oh well, I got a free entry pass to give away
