IMO there's a difference between "the Red pill/redpill" (The raw truth) and the self-proclaimed redpill community. Redpill in a game-related, practical context is good. Redpill for mental masturbation purposes isn't redpill, but that's my perspective. I consider myself a practical redpiller.
Yeah, I mean, that's fair.
You could say the same about feminism, nazism, communism, or many other things. Those are idealistic things that then humans got ahold of and destroyed and created bad reputations around.
Unfortunately, the term "red pill" doesn't really mean much of anything... it's a term used by a lot of people for a lot of different things... it's used for politics (on the left and the right), conspiracy theory medical things, the manosphere, and in this case, dating.
And as far as I've seen, even in the dating sphere, there's no cohesion in the message of what redpill is... I've seen different people claim they know what it is or different "doctrines" for it... but even the doctrines I've seen are mostly whining about women with some good points and truth scattered in between it.
If someone can point me to an official statement on what redpill is, we could discuss this further.
Exactly. But it’s easier to paint it with a generalisation brush and shame it than think properly about what’s being said and what the implications are.
When you get guys claiming that they're red pilled, running around the internet, attacking anyone who disagrees with them and shaming them as "blue pilled," it's easy to see why people use a broad brush and make generalizations about them... the same way people do it with feminists, communists, nazis, and anything else you want to talk about.
Is nazism about white supremacy? No, it's a governmental system that focuses on a countries national interests... but people have flown the flag of nazism to attack other races for decades and, of course, Hitler and his whole regime have created a name for nazism.
But I can understand why people would generalize, paint with a broad brush, and shame it.
