No soap?

I've been recommended to use a soap alternative which is called QV. Not sure if you have that in the states. Would you consider using a soap alternative? What about something like some vegetable oil, I was told by my sister that this is good for removing eye makeup and that turned out to be the case. It would remove oily residues.

As for me I have oily hair and I suffer from a mild hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating -- apparently my sister had it very badly until she had an operation which she's happy with, in my case it's annoying but not a huge issue, especially as I live in a pretty cool climate). So I wouldn't be down with ditching soap, in fact I use it several times a day. If I have a busy day with appointments right through, and a date etc, then I'll get through a number of shirts, each time I strip down in the bathroom and wash my upper body with soap. I'm also pretty good at doing this in planes, in airports, in stations, in department stores, etc, was a useful skill for homeless pickup. I can't imagine not using soap.

radeng,

I still wash my body with body wash, but I actually don't wash my face (other than between the cracks on the side of my nose and around my ears because those areas can tend to smell when you collect sweat there). I've discovered that washing your face with soap completely removes the oils that are there in place to keep bacteria out (a.k.a. zits/pimples). My acne has mostly disappeared ever since.

However, I've pretty much completely stopped washing my hair with shampoo OR conditioner. I basically scrub my hair with water as if I had shampoo in it -- this helps remove any dirt without damaging your hair with any of the chemicals in shampoo. I do let my hair stylist wash my hair though, but I only get a haircut once a month. So essentially my hair is washed with shampoo once a month (which I don't mind).

Not using soap on your body might be an option, although I've never seen any valuable reason not to use soap. I don't get any acne other than on my face, and using soap on my body just makes me feel fresh and smell fresh. If you try not using body wash, I'd be curious to hear your results.

Radeng,

1. Go as long as you can without shampoo. I'm super oily (Hispanic), so shampooing every 8-10days is good enough for me, but if you're not super oily, you can probably go weeks or even a month without shampooing. Franco only does it when he gets a haircut as he says, cuz he's a wopsicle. All depends on your body type.

2. Conditioner as often as you'd like. Most hair professionals have told me it's very healthy to wash your hair with conditioner (just because there's "chemicals" in something doesn't necessarily make it antithetical to a healthy lifestyle; this is called the "Naturalist Fallacy," where someone asserts that old-school/primitive methods are best, simply because it's "natural." Well, anything that exists or can exist is by definition natural, since it's made up of atoms - and what are chemicals made up of? Atoms. Though, as you've no doubt found out through research on this, as well dieting, that adopting methods our body is used to and using products that are simple is often the most effective method, because simpler = easier to compartmentalize primary and side-effects, whereas complicated shit can sometimes have long-term effects that haven't yet been documented or observed).

3. You can ditch soap totally and just scrub yourself with a washcloth. You really want to scrub hard under your armpits and under your crotch. Certainly let your body build up its natural layers of oil, but excess is of course possible. If it "feels" too oily, it probably is, but the best test is how you feel after the shower. If those areas crack and feel raw, you rubbed away too much oil.

4. With the above thing mentioned, take cold showers. Hot water opens up your pours and oil just drains off of you. Cold water keeps the pores closed and ensures you only wipe away excess oil/dirt/grime. Also, it's very good for your circulation and boosts testosterone. It also wakes your ass up and makes you feel like a fucking boss. Been going strong for almost 2 1/2 years now and don't even miss hot showers, even when I was in the MidWest and took ice cold showers when it was below zero outside.

You'll notice that you kind of stink, but noone will ever complain about it unless you don't scrub your armpits. Even if they do complain, they won't do it unless you ask or you're good friends. I've found that girls who do complain are simultaneously turned on by it. You mark your territory wherever you walk. I would lay in bed with girls after fucking and they'd be snuggled up under my arm, and I'd ask them if it smells bad, and they say "not bad, it's just...it just smells like man. But it kind of turns me on, too." Chase talks about this in an article - if your testosterone is high (e.g., you get laid often, are dominant, and don't get nervous around people), you will emit that testosterone through your naked sweat and the effects are surprisingly polarizing, in a very, very good way.

It'll take a few weeks for you to adjust but you'll be happy you did it.

Oh and get your diet on track. Since people will be smelling you, not products, you will smell like what you eat.

radeng,

I also wanted to concur with Hector on scrubbing hard. I especially scrub hard on my face because I don't use soap/body wash there, so the scrubbing helps really get dirt and sweat build-up off.

Also, if you attempt to do this, make sure to give yourself at LEAST two weeks (preferably three weeks) to see the results. I've had a few people come on the boards and ask me about this, try it for 5-7 days, complain that it made their acne flare up, and then went back to using soap.

It's likely that when you first start is when it'll be the roughest -- your hair will be extra oily and your acne may flare up. I imagine this has to do with your body adjusting to the changes, but I don't really have a scientific explanation for it at the moment. Just make sure not to quit on it too early!

I haven't used soap in about a year and I'm loving it, I feel cleaner without soap. I tried going without deoderant and I got really good reactions but ultimately had to go back to deo because my scent is very powerful and I sweat alot. So after a couple of hours the funk comes out.

Give it a try!

Radeng,

I really suggest you go without deodorant. I've been in lots of "professional" environments and it's never had a negative results, really. A comment here and there, but it's such an under-the-radar thing that most people WON"T say anything, so even if it is affecting them, they keep quiet. And what you'll learn about power is that being able to do something fringe/uncommon without any verbal resistance (e.g., people shaming you, commenting on your behavior, etc), is very very powerful. It means you're allowed to break "societal rules" and get away with it, because you're high status enough to be given the license to do whatever the fuck you want.

Of course you do this sparingly, as you will overuse your free-passes eventually, but when you can, flex your powers a bit in subtle ways.

So ya, I challenge you to try 3 months without deodorant, even if you have a professional job. Just scrub hard, eat well, and you'll see men AND women alike respect you. Because not only did women report to liking it, but men would even sometimes make SLIGHTLY-homoerotic comments but it's mostly pure power dynamic; they'd say shit like, "Yeah, I mean I can smell you, but it's not bad..it's just man smell!" Almost the EXACT same shit that women say except of course the girls say it with a more flirtatious tone and add the addendum of "oh, and it's a turn on," but still men will respect your scent.

Can I take it that this applies to cologne as well as deodorant?

As part of my transformation to high value man one thing I did was to research colognes and get one for day (a fresh woody foresty scent) and one for night (a more mysterious musky / patchouli scent)... it is recommended to wear cologne by putting a little around your chest and letting it mix with your natural odours and come out the neck... so I'm kind of wondering if this would be an enhancement to what you're suggesting, or a nogo.

On the subject of power -> doing socially unacceptable things, apparently Lyndon Johnson often used to give instructions to his subordinates while sitting on the toilet, which I suppose was an ensuite in his office, he did this deliberately to humiliate them and emphasize the power differential.

Cologne is purely a marketing ploy, in my opinion. The scent of cologne is overpowering, and it will mostly cover up any of your masculine scent.

If you want to use anything, then I would recommend getting a spray deodorant (i.e. AXE or other spray brands). I usually spray my armpit areas with AXE in the morning, and that's about it. The AXE scent is much more subtle than a strong cologne, and it mixes with your natural body scent over the course of the day, giving you a masculine yet "fresh" smell that girls seem to enjoy. I noticed my girlfriend tends to often lay her head by my armpit when she's in bed with me, and I imagine it's because she really enjoys the scent -- it's not off-putting, and it also has a hint of "me" in there.

Feel free to experiment. I would avoid cologne though as it's expensive, strong, and generally off-putting to most women.

On hair:

I have all but stopped using shampoo as well. My hair is really thick but currently at medium length and it feels amazingly healthy. In the past I used conditioner to make up for the drying from the shampoo and I don't even own conditioner anymore. Also, there's barely a need for styling gel because my hair is holding however it dries.

All these products just seem to fix each other...

lotion vs soap
acne meds vs soap
conditioner vs shampo

Without one the other wouldn't be necessary.

Still rocking the man bun? I'm letting my hair grow to try it, but I never had my hair so long. I have wavy and super oily and I live in a super humid area. I can go 5 days at most without shampooing, but after 2 or 3 days my hair looks like shit and feels heavy as fuck. It isn't long enough so I can tie my hair yet. Does it get any better when you can tie it even if it's oily/wavy?

Big Daddy,

Yessir, though I actually wear it all back now, since it's long enough. Soon, once it all evens out, I'll wear a big ponytail, too. But yeah, since we have more hair, it'll get heavier and oily. Still, try to shampoo less often, no matter the urge. Just REALLY massage that scalp with cold water.

I'm trying your tip of just using conditioner. So far, it's good. It's a lot smoother and because of this it's straighter and falls of my face, like this: http://sugarscape.cdnds.net/14/46/980x4 ... 921070.jpg (I reckon it would look exactly like this if I had $100 to spend every week on my hair)

If I don't wash it for a week and do absolutely nothing to it, it tends to do curl a little bit and looks way messier, like this: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/12/ ... 951286.jpg

Do you have straight or wavy hair? As I said, my hair isn't long enough. But even if it was, I can't imagine pulling my hair all the way back and is staying there.

Reading a book "The fatal shore" about early colonization of Australia by Europeans. Apparently the native Iora went about with fish entrails on their heads so that they would cook in the sun and fish oil would run down their bodies. They never washed, so they spent their lives coated in fish oil, other animal fats, sand and ochre. Give that a shot ;)

Seriously though, when I was in my 20s I was living in a suburban house that was set up like a commune, I fucking hated it so I used to work late about 4 days a week and go to dance parties the other 3 days, that summer we went to the bush 16 weeks in a row, except one week when we all took acid in my garage and spent the night zooming up and down the laneway on skateboards and in shopping trolleys and dressing up in spaceman gear from my cousin's protective-wear business haha. We were pretty well connected with the underground trance party scene so we knew where all the parties were that weren't necessarily public knowledge. I basically never washed that summer, I had this long hair and beard and I referred to it mentally as "my year of living feral". Hehe. If only I'd had GC I might've got laid as well. :)

I'm thinking of a reduced soap regimen or soap alternatives. Keen for further updates from the dudes trying this routine.

I've tried not using soap for a week and by 5 days I was forced to use it. Shampoo and conditioner I use once a month because my hair isn't super oily. IDK y'all location if it's cool or whatnot. The Caribbean is fucking hot and people bathe 2 to 4 times a day.

I can imagine not using soap if I had a bathe tub and I'd lay in there and scrub for 30 minutes. Most persons don't have that luxury. Which got me curious how long does it take to shower when you don't use soap?

I took 30 minutes to get a " quick bathe ". Lol all this is quite interesting to think about....

When I started taking fish oil pills and some other supplements, I noticed a pretty significant increase in the strength of my body odor. Weird, right? Might not even be related, but yeah I started wearing a very light amount of deodorant again after this haha.

I've experienced similar results with fish oil. What other supplements do you like to use?

Well, just multivitamins and some whey protein at the moment. Pretty sure it was when I introduced the fish oil into the equation that I started to notice a difference. I was more worried about burping or passing gas to be honest! Haha

I still do not use soap, but a small amount of deodorant in the morning does me well. Someone had recommended Mitchum to me a while back, and I have been using that. It's fairly odorless, but still works quite well!

Eating lots of protein changes your body odor, but I have no idea why that is the case. I had friends report the same, and in the only month in my life I took whey, it happened to me as well. Whenever I bump up calories to 3,500/day that happens too, but not as much as when I was taking whey.

Gotta eat a huge meal (~1,800 calories) of potatoes and ground beef. Almost forgot! Good thing you mentioned supplements, JJ :)

Crap I kind of hate to dig this long post out of the grave and ask my question; but was wondering about this thing and I guess it sort of fit the context of this thread.

Was wondering do some of you guys shave armpit hair or just keep it or trim it? And how that affects your scent or not?

I'd been trimming/shaving it last few years but haven't done so in several weeks; and I feel like it's been improving my scent and dually some responses from women. But I can't be too sure, and haven't gotten laid in a while so couldn't tell the difference in the reactions there either.

What do you guys think? Feels like a fucking stupid question to ask too hahahaha sorry if that's the case

I'd never ever let something sharp get near my armpits. I never trimmed or shaved or anything; It just looks so feminine to me... and I fucking love the smell of my body when I'm sweating. I can understand why women love it so much, I feel empowered. I use deodorant, but I could get away without it because I don't sweat that much.

And then again, I definitively not the hairiest dude around. I'm 21 and still don't have full beard, and probably never will; I don't have hair on my chest and the hair on my arms are very thin. Plus I don't sweat that much, so I'm not sure if I'm a good reference.
