ah got it
Good to know I'm not the only one! :)
I'm guessing it's just a bug with something specific to that thread, maybe there's a post that has an odd symbol in it or something, don't know.

@Phoenix @Rain,

I just tried quoting the specific post Rain links to in his message and it posted successfully.

Are there other posts you're trying to quote, or any special character that might be the issue?

We're on a different forum software now, but back in the day we used to have issues with people posting non-standard characters to the old phpBB board. Chance it could be that.

I think maybe cientifico switched it off or something?

I've done some quick testing, I can't quote Cientifico in his journal ,I've checked different pages to the problem quote where I noticed it, and where Phoenix noticed it, and page 1. But I can quote Phoenix in Cientifico journal on the same page that he could not quote Cientifico.

The common demoninator is quoting Cientifico. I also tried quoting him in this thread
and same problem, screenshot attached.

That maybe rules out the ~e or whatever character being a problem in his journal title, since his other posts outside his journal thread also have the same problem with quoting, for me. I don't know if it affects anyone besides Phoenix and myself.

@Phoenix can you quote @Científico outside his journal, or do you have problems as well eg if you try and quote his post in the link above, does it also fail for you?

We can still reply just can't use the quote function with his name in it.

@Rain,

Quoting that same post of his and hitting reply, my post goes through without issue.

So it must be a browser or device issue.

What browsers & devices are you two both using?

Just tested on Chrome. I'm able to post successfully quoting that Cientifico post.

What operating systems and what versions of Chrome?

Yeah also experienced the same issue where I get the error message when trying to quote him but can post without the quote.

That's odd. No clear pattern emerging.

That's two Firefox 89.0.2 on two different OSes.

I just tried quoting him in Firefox 89.0.2 and it went through fine for me.

I'll ask Haseeb if he can't take a look and see if he can figure out what the issue might be.

Added.

Why am I getting emails from Girlschase but the post doesn't exist?

The last email shows Chase putting the word 'test'. Is it the Cientifico thing that you guys talk about? Seems different posts.

I had to publish the post to make sure it went through.

I just quoted Cientifico and included the word 'test' to have some content there.

I deleted it after posting.

Sounds like the forum is immediately sending you an alert email as soon as a new post goes up, or at least that's how you have it configured in your preferences.

Nah it's okay. I like the email notification.

I can't seem to access the journal. Maybe I need to go manually. No worries on that.

UPDATE:

Our sysadmin Denis figured out our cloud proxy (used for blocking bots, malware, and other bad stuff) was mistakenly blocking most replies with Cientifico's quotes due to special characters in them, thinking these replies were "cross site scripting."

Denis has put a fix in place he believes corrects the issue.

Can the folks running into this try quoting Cientifico and see if your posts now go through?

Is it because of different admin status that yours went through and others didn't?

Tested both the journal and also one of his replies in a non journal thread and both were able to quote this time. Working now, thanks!

Great. Thanks for updating.

Most likely mine went through because my IP is whitelisted with our cloud proxy.
