Gentleman,

2 years ago I had my braces put on, not for the first time in my life, and then last year they were taken off and I had clear retainers in (as I had moved away from home and couldn't keep treatment going), which resulted in me having what looked like perfect teeth. It gave me a lot of confidence and I was extremely happy to be smiling confidently. And I found this a big boost as I started applying more of GC's stuff.

But I've now got back and had my braces put back on.

Now, this isn't a moaning post to say now I can't do any approaching or girls will hate me because of them. Instead it is merely to see other people's experience and verdict on the role they play.

I feel very conscious now whenever I smile or laugh as it's a lot more unattractive than when I had the retainers and they definitely aren't photogenic, either. Also, looking at posts like 'sexy slow smile' etc now, I can't really do that. I've become quite good at the closed-lipped half smile, but, of course, some form of slow smile when you greet someone still shows signs of happiness in other parts of your face etc.

I also read about Darius' Social Insecurities post: https://www.girlschase.com/content/how-d ... securities. However, he said:
I did feel major emotional relief and I did feel more attractive with metal in my mouth, even though it had nothing to do with how cool braces actually look (they don’t look cool).

See I'm the opposite and was dreading them going back in.

Still, even after I had my braces removed and ended up with a solid smile, the world didn’t instantly become a happier place

See, for me, as I'd had them on and off for so long (treatment has been complicated), I was SO happy when they came off.

So, in all, have people had more or less luck? I've had conversations with people now they're on and they'd say they didn't even realise I had them in. We'd have a 2 hour conversation and go "Oh, you've had your braces put back on!"

Also, in terms of kissing or going down on girls, has any ever had some interesting feedback? Should I just embrace them more?

Cheers,

- JP

JP,

I have braces right now for two years and I'm scheduled to have them taken off in about a month time. Personally I don't really mind it at all and don't see it as a "deal breaker" because there are so many other areas you could improve. I smile and laugh comfortably and I don't attempt to hide it. I think if you already has a perfect-looking teeth to the layman's eyes, then the worst part of your treatment is pretty much over even if you still have braces. Now your orthodontist just have to fix up the little details that barely anyone will notice. Be glad that you're getting your teeth fixed =) Some people can't even afford it.

One of my friends just got braces taken off last month, and I didn't even notice it lol

In terms of kissing...I have no idea what it's like to kiss without braces haha but it has always been enjoyable with braces, so I guess it's just a matter of getting use to them again. And I don't have any problem going down on a girl as well. No pubic hair gets stuck in your braces if that's what you're worrying about lol.

Hey Smith,

That's fair enough and I'm happy for you that you're having yours taken off! :D

As I've said I've had them before and have still received compliments about my appearance etc, but I was thinking the more I want to get in PU, would it affect me more? Sounds like it doesn't, really. I guess I'll use this more as a time to improve my fundamentals and carry on lifting, as my 'perfect smile' isn't there yet! :)

I'm yet to kiss a girl with them back on, but to be honest I really don't think it'll be too much different, I'll be sure to report haha!

Cheers,
