Training fundamentals: any indirect opener topics that lead to relatively long conversations?

I am noticing that even after successful direct day game openers, I often have trouble projecting strong fundamentals in the following 5-6 minutes (which are crucial). In night game, I can more or less do it because after warming up I can get into a "party" state of mind which obviously doesn't work very well for day game.

So i was thinking of taking some time and use indirect openers that lead to more long chats just to train my fundamentals in the interaction.
The one I am currently using is "very vague directions". For example: "Do you know this area very well?" Where would you say is the best ice cream place in this area?". Do you guys have any ideas?

Hey man good to hear you're in field gaining those experience points. Just saw this post last night, thought it'd be right up your alley.

“Hey, so, I cant help but notice something about you…”

And break into A cold read about her vibe/energy. Most women eat it up and can quickly lead to interesting conversation.
I do this too. An observational transition leading into a cold read, with that cold read being useful frames I want to set on her.

I like to use this as a transition after the indirect opener, and it's my favorite first transition (for indirect sets - not direct).

I like my indirect opener before the cold read to drag on for 1-3 minutes, because that builds some rapport to justify the personal remarks.

It can also accomplish a few additional things such as: contain chick crack, contain social proof, get investment, etc.

Then from there, it feels very natural to stack into the observation and cold read, since we have some basic rapport already.

That said, opening with an observation is money as well.

The concept of LIOs is built around it - it's an observation + a little story with a punch line.

Here's a quick one for girls reading on benches at parks or boardwalks. Easy to follow, works well, adapted from guys like Glow and Bacchus:

1. Comment on her choice for a spot
2. Discuss what she's reading
3. Relate to her

GUY: hey I have something important to tell you
GIRL: lets hear it!
GUY: i love your choice for a spot. While there are a bunch of decent spots on this boardwalk...what I like about your choice here is the perfect view of this calming lake. Have you ever noticed how being in nature gives you a chance to feel more relaxed…in between the busy hours of your life?
GIRL: yeah!
GUY: It's great for feeling at home in yourself. so i see youre reading, what kind of book is that?
GIRL: this one is fantasy, i usually read history, but lately im reading fantasy
GUY: good choice, fantasy is always fun. What is it about fantasy that really does it for you? Is it the feeling of escape? Or maybe even feeling comfortable in your own world?
GIRL: hmmmmm its probably feeling like I can escape
GUY: *lock in* I feel the same way when im acting
GIRL: oh you act?!
GUY: yeah! Its like when I get on stage…the more I act, the more I feel like I can escape! And you know what I noticed?
GIRL: what?
GUY: its that acting makes you live in living in the moment. I imagine its the same with reading. you pay attention to the current moment, tune out the distractions and focus on the details..and suddenly you find yourself in your own little world. And when you bring these two emotions together…living in the moment, escaping…it results in a combined sensation that feels therapeutic! Its just amazing, isn’t it?
GIRL: *stimulated* oh wow!

Yup... i do this too. Indirect opener (preferably situational) build some rapport then transition into an observational cold read

Makes the cold read more powerful and genuine.

Cold reads seem to be the most common tool amongst seducers and PUAs. Everyone uses it. Very effective. Became more conscious about using it after reading LRs and going through different courses.
