#1 find a physical, social activity I enjoyed doing or wanted to do better. Bowling, Darts, Golf, Archery, Running, Weight lifting, sky diving, etc.
#2 work at becoming better at that activity .
#3 in the course of pursuing mastery, meet other people interested in that pursuit.
#4 Use social media to create connections with those people and plan future events
#5 join social activities that occur as part of that pursuit. ie: beers after a match, travelling to matches as a group, going to clinics etc
Meanwhile branch out in other extra curriculars:
#6 Take the next step in becoming involved in your career field. Join the trade association or professional society for your degree. Attend conferences or conventions.
#7 become active in your university alumni organization.
#8 join a philanthropic group. Lions, Rotary (Active 20-30), Kiwanis, etc. Get on a committee and follow through with an event or objective.
#9 volunteer as a youth sports coach
#10 Please notice- I never once mentioned going out to bars or clubs to meet people....
Now you have at least 4 social circles and there may be people who overlap in those. The social circles should be:
Career
Sport
Volunteer
Community
