So here's something that happened (over a facebook conversation) with a girl.
We've known each other for a while, and I know that she likes me. We occasionally exchange facebook messages (1 or 2 short ones every few days/every week... Well mine are short, she usually writes several lines =P)
So since we both like anime/japanese cartoons, we usually use pictures of characters instead of emoticons... And there's this character that she likes a lot which I usually use in my pics, because I know she likes him. lol But just recently (it was valentine's) she responded to a message that had been sitting there for like a week saying "it breaks her heart" when I use the character. I didn't know what to say, so I just sort of joked saying I couldn't help it with a pic of the character laughing, and she then said that "it wasn't fair". I sort of kept a joking approach and we talked about something else, but later on she said again "it's not fair"... And well, the conversation kept going after that, but that, I think, is for another time as I'm not particularly interested in asking about other things (I read some articles that shed some light on them).
Oh yeah, also at some point I joked that she was "toying with me", which she later turned around and said that I was toying with her for using the character, and jokingly said "shame on you".
So yeah, I don't know how to interpret a line like that. I know if it was a regular conversation I would have frozen on the spot, probably, so I wanted to know how to take it and what a better response would have gone. Also if I should keep using that character in conversation, I think overusing it would make it too familiar so I'll probably dial-down on it, but still I'd like to hear a second opinion, if anyone can help with that. Thanks.
