When to approach in the gym?

I had an opportunity to approach in the gym today, but I blew it.

I was sitting after my workout on the chairs near the turn style to get in and out.

There was this girl on the treadmill who I was sat across from at the dumbbell rack whom I wanted to approached but there were too many people sat on the adjustable benches at the dumbbell rack.

I almost did it as I put my dumbbells back, but when I looked at her, she turned her head slightly so I was not able to make preemptive eye contact. Furthermore, she was also wearing big headphones so I was not sure if she would hear me if I said "excuse me".

Fast forward to me forgetting about her and getting on with my workout, then when I go to the cross trainer for my cardio after my workout, I see her on the treadmill.

When my workout finishes, I wipe the sweat from my brow and see that she is cooling down on the treadmill.

She does a couple of quick stretches, then walks towards the exit.

That was my chance, but I got in my head and felt creepy for waiting to "ambush" her off the treadmill.

There are a lot of approaches that I miss in the gym because it just doesn't feel right. I either feel like I have to go too far out of my way to a part of the gym I am not training in, or sit in wait for a potential approach which also feels creepy.

I really need to make more approaches in the gym, though.

Sensing that is pretty good I think.

Most creepy guys indeed ambush and corner girls.

That's one of those times I'll give it to the overthinking mind.

Why though?

The gym is one of these places where girls have their creep alert higher than usual.

A normal approach that falls short even a little on smoothness might land you in creepy land.

It is a fantastic place to meet girls IF you'd social calibration is on point.

Anything less than that might end up with you being permanently labelled as the creepy guy.

I suggest you skip approaching in the gym. Shift to cold approach with little social context.

That allows you to go for these approaches that you're not entirely sure of and really push yourself to improve.

Worst case: she thinks you're creepy and you move on, without damage to your reputation overall.

Just wave and pretend to know her while walking past or something.

I actually personally think the gym is a great place for approaching, especially after she has just entered and just had her first stop.

I agree on principle, however, I don't have a "local" gym, I use gyms across several different towns which my membership allows.

I only train 3 times per week on my current schedule, so I can leave a couple out of rotation and not be seen at them for weeks.

However I still have this limiting belief that I want to smash. It is purely in my head, I am sure. I haven't had a bad reaction yet in the gym, but I am very careful so maybe that's why.

And more so than that, I need volume. Daygame just isn't giving the volume of hotties in see through pants that the gym provides.

The only other thing is club game that gives that volume but I had staying up late and also have to pay for an Airbnb each time. So if I could just get regular approaches going in the gym, that would be really good.

I have a goal of doing 1 approach every time I am in the gym and that should be achievable if I visit each gym once per week and at different times.

As for "giving it to the overthinking mind" believe me, that's what I used to do until I was 28 then realising I had never spoken to girls before. Because in my overthinking mind it was always the "wrong" time. That was what actually started my daygame journey, breaking out of being a perpetual overthinker.

But at the same time, for me to do an approach in an enclosed environment, it seems like for me to pull the trigger, everything has to be perfect, which is wrong.

Thanks for your post and it made me realise that maybe I should let myself off the hook in these environments.

Ohhh I didn't realise that.

In that case I revise my answer.

As long you can mix and match and have enough leverage to push your boundaries without major fallouts, should be good man!
