I had an opportunity to approach in the gym today, but I blew it.
I was sitting after my workout on the chairs near the turn style to get in and out.
There was this girl on the treadmill who I was sat across from at the dumbbell rack whom I wanted to approached but there were too many people sat on the adjustable benches at the dumbbell rack.
I almost did it as I put my dumbbells back, but when I looked at her, she turned her head slightly so I was not able to make preemptive eye contact. Furthermore, she was also wearing big headphones so I was not sure if she would hear me if I said "excuse me".
Fast forward to me forgetting about her and getting on with my workout, then when I go to the cross trainer for my cardio after my workout, I see her on the treadmill.
When my workout finishes, I wipe the sweat from my brow and see that she is cooling down on the treadmill.
She does a couple of quick stretches, then walks towards the exit.
That was my chance, but I got in my head and felt creepy for waiting to "ambush" her off the treadmill.
There are a lot of approaches that I miss in the gym because it just doesn't feel right. I either feel like I have to go too far out of my way to a part of the gym I am not training in, or sit in wait for a potential approach which also feels creepy.
I really need to make more approaches in the gym, though.
