By the way what have you guys seen on whether or not the warm weather is going to burn this thing out or not?

Experts seem to be 50/50 on it (maybe more on the favor of it burning out).

It does seem all the countries in the southern hemisphere aren't seeing a very high spread of the virus in comparison to other northern hemisphere countries. Australia particularly.

I think this factor will be a defining factor in how extreme it gets.

I think the cure is on the way. They tested HIV meds with great success. This was 3 weeks ago. It takes a week to write a report, a week to make it official, and a few weeks to test further.

They are also trying out using Ebola med against the virus.

Today I went shopping, and it was full on panic buying. I shop at a mega store, they were almost out of toilet paper, and the number of people in the store was limited by parking spots in the lot. Public panic is setting in. JFTR, I'm in the US Midwest.

In answer to how long the virus can survive on its own, I have this article. It's under review, but it is in line with what I have been able to find on the Net.

In plain speech, the study, currently being reviewed by Princeton University, has found that the virus can survive floating in the air for up to three hours, and up to three days on both plastics and stainless steel.

It takes 18 months to completely trial any new vaccine. By the time one is ready the whole situation will be over. Promises of quick cures won't happen because of all the medical trials that are necessary to check for possible side effects.

Economic collapse will happen temporarily as most economies are not fully recovered from the 2008 financial crisis.

In the worst case scenario where nurses, doctors, the army and the police fall ill and the government decide only to go after those who murder the criminals will be free to do largely as they please.

Then again it looks like mild cases are going unrecorded so it may not be as bad as thought. Spanish flu 100 years earlier did not cripple economies worldwide and up to 50 million died. Also if you buy into the stock market in a few months time at the bottom end you could make a massive amount of money. As Warren Buffet says 'be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful'.

Efforts in China are succeeding so we might all find a Draconian response is eventually used to bring it under control.

Silver tree - statistics on the threat to older people need to be assessed against a sample non threatened older group. It looks to me that the chance of death for over 70s is already over 10% so actually even with the virus amongst the population the risk is only slightly higher.

Whatever happens it is best to prepare for a range of different scenarios and keep up to date with the latest information.

Saw people buying bottled water in mass at a market today. Like, is this shit in the water? XD. Are they going to buy generators too? Only paper I saw was nose tissues. Long lines.

It's fascinating watching the collective react. It's like a social experiment. Say you see one guy running like a maniac right past you. You think, "Weird." Then another. Then a whole family. Abuelita dropped her dentures and she didn't turn back. She's packing it. Then a whole parade. People shouting "Run." At that point, you'd probably think, fuck, maybe I should head that way too.

I think that's what we have in the US with the toilet paper. Makes me think of that MIB quote: "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it."

@Train yeah it's weird thing on the toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Like are people bathing in that shit? And somehow think that toilet paper is going to protect them against the virus?

Idk I'm buying some food supplies and few extra bars of soap. Your more likely to catch the virus from breathing the air than getting it on your hands. Apparently the CDC tells people to wash their hands more because it makes them feel like their protecting themselves since there aren't enough masks to go around to protect the general public.

Look at these cruise ships that are on quarantine and yet start developing 50-100 new cases a day. No amount of toilet paper or hand sanitizer would've helped those people.

It's one thing to be prepared to hunker down a month or two (which the way the numbers are going it looks like it'll head that way)... but as you rightfully point out it's another thing to lose your mind and join the herd of lemmings running off the cliff.

Another reason to stock up on food early just to avoid all the psychos

I agree, now is the time to buy all the other stuff people are NOT panic buying. That was what I enjoyed today when buying food. Everyone is off fighting the toiler paper wars. I'm chilling with some people at the bar ordering pizza and making coronavirus jokes lol.

At this point, I almost wanna catch it so I can get it over with. And flex my immunity on the mortals :p.

People have started panic buying in my area of the U.S. (the southwest). It's not anything crazy yet, but I do agree that now is the time to buy.

As far as going out just make sure you guys take the proper precautions. Wash your hands, don't touch your face, and don't interact with anyone who's showing symptoms.

Also get educated about the virus. Don't rely on mainstream media to educate you (their goal is to prompt fear then reassure the masses so they watch) Wikipedia and the video below should be a good start:

Apparently the CDC tells people to wash their hands more because it makes them feel like their protecting themselves since there aren't enough masks to go around to protect the general public.

That wouldn't surprise me but where did you hear that @Mr.Rob? From my understanding the virus takes over respiratory cells and are released in the air once the infected person coughs, but that the main vector for infections are when people transfer viral material from their hands onto their eyes, mouth, or face. Medical masks are traditionally worn to prevent an infected person from getting others sick, not protecting you from getting sick. Again if I'm wrong please tell me!

I've heard other people talk about going out to game while during this period. While it's tempting to do so I would NOT take that risk. The Coronavirus isn't that lethal to the majority of the population (between 1% and 5% fatality rate) but it's highly contagious. On average each person who comes down with it will pass it on to over 2 people.

You can avoid people who are not sick. But the problem is the incubation period. For up to two weeks, you can show ZERO symptoms while having the disease and being contagious. Just look at NBA player Rudy Golbert, who tested positive right before playing in an NBA game:

He also infected one of his teammates:

Again Golbert was feeling strong enough to play in an NBA game. No symptoms or anything. And he still infected a teammate.

I'm not concerned with anyone here dying, but please, don't go out just to chase tail. We need to limit the spread. Keep the following graph in mind gentleman.

That's hilarious.

Na yeah I think your totally right. There should be plenty of more events that will cause stocks to go down in the next 2 months. When the virus spreads more rapidly through America and people stop showing up to sporting events etc and stop going to malls etc then I think that will create a new low.

I suppose the trick is to choose the right companies that are going to bounce back hard and without issue after this whole thing blows over. (Airlines?)

Hmmm, hadn't thought of that. Well I wouldn't bet the ranch it will work for one.

Your reasoning to do that would be because then there is a more definite shot things will pick up quickly after that and no chance of global recession? or another reason?

Well the stocks dropped by 70% just because of the declaration of a pandemic, so once the cure that will be tested in 4 weeks turns out to work the stocks will SLOWLY go up again, a global recession is the reason for this ofcourse as you mentioned.
And they wont go down any further.

Many people have lost their jobs, many businesses are at a huge loss, those people needs to get back to work to even afford investing/trading again, so i agree with you on that.

If the cure doesnt work, expect to see btc below 3k during a few days. And if the infections keeps on raising, btc will go even lower, i personally wouldnt buy stocks as of now, but wait and follow WHO updates, theyre live every monday, wednesday and friday at around 16:00 on euronews and guardian news heres some links where theyre shown LIVE

I live in Hong Kong.
From what I observed, the panic had a peak and then fell, with everyone going on normally with their lives. No massive buying in supermarkets etc. People are out and about, wearing masks (Hong Kong people as well as Chinese always had the habit of wearing masks and it was common back in 2009 when I moved it).
Cleaning and sanitation are taken very seriously, which is excellent.

The panic seems a little out of proportion but I guess the disease is still worth taking very seriously.
Anyway, Lan Kwai Fong is getting filled up again so I'm happy ;) (It was quasi empty in the peak panic period)

Check out this thread from Reddit.

One thing the author said that stuck with me... "This isn't the time to do 100 approaches." He says it's the time to work on your inner game, basically. Read books, work on your business, learn to code, meditate... etc.

Whenever I feel stuck, rather than go on a three day COD bender, I go on a learning bender. I'll get courses off Udemy and learn something. I'm currently studying Spanish, Mindfullness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Neuro Linguistic Programming. Also some stuff about Chakras, Mac OS, and random philosophy.

You can use this time to get your shit together. Clean your fucking room you disgusting nerds. I know this from years of doing live video coaching. "I want to get 10/10 girls!" "Okay, clean your room first." (Next week... hasn't cleaned room."

That's a good point. I need to get organized and clean my semi-disgusting apartment some more. And get some of my non-dating shit together. Haven't gotten my side gig up to par yet.

But still, the one week I'm finally "Fuck yeah, approach everything in a skirt." and it's a ghost town :(. Why do the PUA gods mock me so?

I know what you mean brother. Finally got into the habit of going out solo consistently to nightgame within the last few weeks, and have been making progress and learning, then this happens, ffs

Hopefully our drive to keep momentum lasts us through this quarantine. We did it once, we can do it again!

That's crazy! I never expected things to get this out of hand. What will you do to pass the time @Teevster, both in terms of dating and regular life?

For me my school has moved all classes online which means no more chatting up women between classes :( It's only been a few days and I'm already getting a little stir crazy.

I have six supermarkets where I live. The way I figure it people still have to go out to get food and drink so I might as well pivot my game to getting the girls there.
