this meme is sending me.

aura can also be in the phrase "aura farming" like amassing gaming points and cultivating a vibe. e.g. Spike's concept of attraction points from incremental improvements to fundamentals, especially fashion

Another one I forgot (I should really just take notes every time I hang out with a gen z girl, no cap) is “standing on business”

Means doing what you say you’re going to do. Not just talking the talk, but walking the walk.

“They said I couldn’t approach ten girls at the club tonight, but the vibe is lit af and I’m standing on business. That’s why they call me the rizzler”

My brain hurt typing that… 😭

I'm not that old (26 in January) but I still don't get what 6, 7 is...

Thought it was a variation of 69...

Fun thread (y) (btw I think this emoji is seen as uncool no matter the color, at least I was told that by a gen z girl
Yeah it always gave me this dry vibe like the person couldn't give less of a fuck.

My dad always uses it. Drives me crazy.

Me: "I won a full scholarship + awesome monthly stipend for my first choice Master's."

Dad: 👍

I read somewhere that " (y) " is the ultimate dad joke.

Oh I saw this in the wild... It was pretty weird. I don't know if it's used by college kids, but teachers of really young kids are seeing it.

I saw two kids age 10 or so hear someone randomly say it, then they repeated it excitedly with the vibe of like if a clown entered a birthday party or Barney the dinosaur showed up.

They were using the two hands like weighing objects to the side (as in is it 6 or is it 7?). It's like the ambiguity between the two numbers is part of what makes them lose themselves in the absurdity and meaninglessness of it.

Because it quite literally means absolutely nothing to them and that is the point. It's just something to get amped over. It's honestly weird as hell.

Like from searching online briefly it seems it's generally accepted it's completely divorced from its origin, which is:

The origin of the "6-7" meme traces back to the 2024 drill rap song "Doot Doot (6 7)" by Philadelphia-based rapper Skrilla, which features the recurring lyric "6-7". The exact meaning of the phrase within the song remains ambiguous, with speculation linking it to 67th Street in Skrilla's hometown of Philadelphia or Chicago, or even to the police radio code "10-67" for reporting a death, though Skrilla himself has stated he never assigned a specific meaning to it. The song gained traction in December 2024 and was officially released on February 7, 2025.

The meme exploded in popularity when the song was used in video edits featuring NBA player LaMelo Ball, who stands at 6 feet 7 inches tall. A key viral moment occurred when a sports commentator remarked that Ball plays like a 6'1" player despite being 6'7", prompting the song's beat drop and a montage of Ball's highlights. This format became a staple in basketball TikTok edits and helped cement the phrase in internet culture.

Further popularization came from Overtime Elite basketball player Taylen "TK" Kinney, who frequently used the phrase in interviews and on TikTok, often accompanied by a hand gesture involving alternating upward and downward movements of both palms.

You haven't heard of 6, 7?
i researched gen alpha, ai meaning, good find:

The slang term "6-7" is a recent internet meme and expression, largely considered to be nonsensical. Its primary use is as an inside joke for Gen Alpha and Gen Z, often used to express a shared connection and to humorously confuse older generations. Dictionary.com named "6-7" its 2025 Word of the Year, acknowledging that its meaning is intentionally vague.

Origin and Meaning
The phrase originated in early 2025 and stems from several related cultural phenomena:
  • The Song: The expression comes from the repeating lyric "six-seven" in the rap song "Doot Doot (6 7)" by Philadelphia rapper Skrilla.
  • Basketball: The song gained popularity on social media when it was used in video edits of NBA player LaMelo Ball, who is 6 feet 7 inches tall. The phrase is now strongly associated with him and other basketball players.
  • Viral Videos: The meme was further popularized by high school basketball player Taylen "TK" Kinney and a young spectator (the "67 Kid") in a viral video who enthusiastically yelled the phrase with a specific hand gesture.
  • Brain Rot Slang: The term is an example of "brain rot" slang, which is digital media or language considered of poor quality and intentionally meaningless. The humor lies in the absurdity and the shared understanding among peers.

How it's Used
"6-7" is typically used as an interjection or a punchline to a joke that has no setup.
  • Nonsense response: When a number is mentioned in conversation (e.g., a teacher asking students to turn to page 67), a teen might shout "six-seven!"
  • "So-so": Some users pair the phrase with an up-and-down hand motion (like weighing scales) to mean something is just "so-so" or average.
  • Inside Joke: The main function is to create an in-group bond among young people while confusing and annoying adults, which is often the point.

Another one missing from the list (at the time I post here; maybe @Skills will update):

"Talking to" has replaced "seeing" or "hanging out with" as the Gen Z way to say "dating" without implying anything more serious than still just feeling someone out / getting to know him or her.

(It is a bit ironic, considering that 'dating' started out meaning going to prostitutes in the late 19th Century, then became this very casual thing in the 1910s and 20s where girls would go on dates with literally every guy they knew in high school, not for sex but just to go to the nickelodeon or go get ice cream... then by the 1950s it became basically what "talking to" is today, going out repeatedly with one person but still not that serious yet [that was "going steady" then]... then by around 1970 had became this more serious thing akin to "going steady"... and now it still has this "kind of a serious relationship" meaning, so now we need some other term to refer to what used to be referred to as 'dating' in the first half of the 20th Century. 1980-2010 or so it was "hanging out"...)

Hilarious how Chase's Confucian ideal of semantics has manifested so much in this thread.

Another one is "crashing out" or "crashed out" etc.

Similar to crash and burn, it's like someone completely loses their cool to the point that people see them differently.

I’ll throw in a couple more

Replying with “bet” or “gang” is simply a way to agree.

“I’ll be over at 7:30”
“Okay bet!”
“I’ll bring the handle of captain morgan”
“Gang!”

6-7 is fucking hilarious, especially with how much it annoys the old folks. I’m really a kid at heart, but I love hearing kids screaming it at hockey games to their parents dismay 😂 think it’s more of a gen A thing
